The Royal College of Psychiatrists Improving the lives of people with mental illness

Trainee doctor adviser/committee member for the Psychiatrists’ Support Service Committee

Applications are invited for the post of trainee doctor adviser for the Psychiatrists’ Support Service Committee.

We aim to have two trainee members; one more senior and the other a Core Trainee. The advanced trainee would support the core trainee, who would ultimately take on the advanced trainee role, and then go on to support a new CT member. We currently have a ST member and are particularly interested in having a more junior trainee join the committee, who will be supported by the current ST member.

Applicants are likely to be trainees with some experience of providing support and assistance to doctor colleagues in situations of difficulty.

The post is most suitable for an empathic individual who has an understanding of the key issues that affect trainees and who will be able to offer appropriate signposting, advice and support to their colleagues.

There are two components to the post. The first is to be a doctor adviser and assist in responding to calls from trainee members to the Psychiatrists’ Support Service.

The second is to be a member of the PSS Committee in providing advice to the direction of the service and an input to case discussion. The Committee meets approximately three times a year at the main College Headquarters in Prescot Street. There are also occasional ad hoc teleconferences between meetings to discuss particular issues.

Please download the job description below. If you would like to be considered for this post, please email your CV and a covering letter (no more than one side of A4) outlining your experience for this post to by the closing date.

Closing date for application: Friday 13 October 2017 at 12pm

Interview date & location: Friday 3 November at Prescot Street, London
