Early Intervention in Psychosis Network

Early Intervention in Psychosis Network

EIPN is a quality improvement programme for early intervention in psychosis services. It was developed as part of the 'achieving better access to mental health services' work undertaken by NHS England.

The network aims to:

  • Promote a culture of quality improvement within services;
  • Increase the availability of good quality care for service users;
  • Encourage the sharing of knowledge and best practice;
  • Help services plan improvements;
  • Allow services the opportunity to benchmark their practice against other services and monitor their own improvement over time;
  • Help services to demonstrate the quality of care they provide to service users, carers, commissioners and others.

The network is developed with service providers and service users, and aims to be responsive to their needs through networking, regular events and support, as well as focussing on individual service development as part of the review process.

Self assessment

EIP Teams in England participated in a self-assessment between 4 July 2016 and 30 September 2016, against expectations laid out in the Implementing the Early Intervention in Psychosis Access and Waiting Time Standard: Guidance document. Teams have now been provided with their reports from the 2016 data collection. Visit our Self Assessment page for more information.

Developmental review

Teams can opt to take part in a comprehensive review against a broad set of standards for EIP Teams (including the self assessment standards). This provides bespoke support to individual teams improve quality of care and share good practice. It includes self-review, a peer-review visit and a detailed local report. Registrations for developmental review are open, so visit our Developmental Review page for more information.
