The deadline for submitting your forms is 21 July 2017.

In May 2015, The Royal College of Psychiatrists, College Centre for Quality Improvement launched a Quality Network for Prison Mental Health Services.

We are very excited to have recruited 42 services to partake in the second year of the Network and look forward to commencing self and peer review. A full list of members can be found on the member services page.

The College Centre for Quality Improvement

The College Centre for Quality Improvement (CCQI) is a Department of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The centre runs a variety of quality improvement and accreditation services, with sign up from over 90% of the mental health services in the country.

Standards for Prison Mental Health Services

Member services of the Quality Network are reviewed against published standards for prison mental health services (2nd edition).

The standards act as a framework by which to assess the quality of prison mental health services via a process of self and peer-review. The first edition of the standards was published in June 2015 following an extensive process of consultation with stakeholder groups, including prison mental health staff, patients and commissioners. Information was collated from a wide range of sources and a review of key literature and documents was undertaken.

The second edition of the standards has been produced in order to acknowledge feedback collated from members services that participated in the pilot year of the Quality Network, and also to account for new developments within the field of prison mental health.

Core standards for community services, developed by the British Standards Institution and the CCQI, appear alongside the specialist standards.
