COMMUNICATING WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS (31 August 2017)

This is an all-day learning event aimed at inspiring a discussion about improving ways of engaging and communicating with relatives and friends of patients in forensic mental health settings, and the surrounding challenges such as a lack of patient consent to family involvement.

The event is free to attend and you can register by completing this short booking form.

If you would like to share solutions and examples of a good practice at your service, please complete a presentation proposal or a workshop proposal form and return to Joanna Parketny on Joanna.Parketny@rcpsych.ac.uk by 4 August 2017.

 

Reviewer Training (2017-2018)

Reviewer training is a free event for staff from a service that is a member of the Quality Network. The training is a great learning experience for those who are interested in participating in external peer-reviews, at medium and low secure forensic mental health services.

 

Thursday 14 September 2017 (13.00 – 17.00), Copthorne Hotel, Paradise Circus, Birmingham, B3 3HJ.

Tuesday 24 October 2017 (10.30 – 14.30), Royal College of Psychiatrists, 21 Prescot Street, E1 8BB.

Monday 5 February 2018 (13.00 – 17.00), Royal College of Psychiatrists, 21 Prescot Street, E1 8BB..

Learning Objectives:

The training will give potential reviewers the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about how to conduct a peer-review visit. The training day will involve presentation, discussion and workshops created to develop the skills of a reviewer.

By the end of the training participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the Quality Network’s overall peer-review review process
  2. Deliver the role and responsibilities of the lead reviewer before, during and after the peer-review
  3. Troubleshoot and manage complaints and other difficulties that may arise during a peer-review
  4. Describe and promote the ethos of the Quality Network’s peer-reviews
  5. Describe the key benefits of the peer-review process and membership of the Quality Network

Revisiting See Think Act (27 November 2017)

Following the publication of See, Think, Act (2nd Edition) in 2015, the Quality Network is hosting a follow-up event to revisit relational security. It is an opportunity for professional from all disciplines to meet and discuss key issues in this area and to learn and share ideas.

The event will be held at Royal College of Psychiatrists, 21 Prescot Street, E1 8BB..
