Reviewer Training

Reviewer training is a free event for staff from a service that is a member of the Quality Network. The training is a great learning experience for those who are interested in participating in external peer-reviews, at medium and low secure forensic mental health services.

Date of Training: 30 April 2018

Time: 13:00 - 17:00

Location: Royal College of Psychiatrists, 21 Prescot Street, E1 8BB.

Learning Objectives:

The training will give potential reviewers the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about how to conduct a peer-review visit. The training day will involve presentation, discussion and workshops created to develop the skills of a reviewer.

By the end of the training participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the Quality Network’s overall peer-review review process
  2. Deliver the role and responsibilities of the lead reviewer before, during and after the peer-review
  3. Troubleshoot and manage complaints and other difficulties that may arise during a peer-review
  4. Describe and promote the ethos of the Quality Network’s peer-reviews
  5. Describe the key benefits of the peer-review process and membership of the Quality Network

If you would like to attend the training on 30 April 2018, please complete this booking form. For information about future dates please contact Holly Lowther on holly.lowther@rcpsych.ac.uk or Jemini Jethwa on jemini.jethwa@rcpsych.ac.uk.

Launch of the Carer's Toolkit

The Carer's Toolkit is hosted by the Quality Network for Forensic Mental Health Services in partnership with NHS England, UCLAN (The University of Central Lancashire) and the Carer’s Toolkit Steering Group. This event will involve engagement with carers and enabling them to become involved in adult secure mental health services, which is an important priority in ensuring positive experiences and best outcomes.

This toolkit has been developed with the aim of providing clear information to carers, service users, providers and commissioners regarding how carers of people in adult secure services should be engaged and enabled to be involved. The toolkit was co-produced with a steering-group involving a wide range of experiences and expertise, most importantly carers themselves.

Date of Event: 27 March 2018

Time: 10:30 - 16:00 (final timetable is to be confirmed)

Location: The Royal College of Psychiatrists, 21 Prescot Street, E1 8BB

If you would like to register to attend this event, please complete this form by 21 February 2018. We are expecting a lot of interest and want to ensure a good mix of attendees. We will therefore be confirming if you have a place by 28 February 2018.

Patient  Engagement and Involvement  Event

The Patient Engagement and Involvement Event will be an interactive day dedicated to patients in forensic mental health services. We would like to see patients accompany staff to the event, as it will be a great opportunity  for individual personal development, and for patients to feel inspired and hopeful by  what they  see. The Quality Network also encourages patients and staff to collaboratively present on areas of co-production and good practice around involving patients in a range of service initiatives the deadline for submitting workshop proposals (link below) is 23 February 2018.

There will also be an opportunity for patients to present their artwork at the event. However, you will need to ensure you can transport any artwork to and from the venue yourself, and we cannot be liable to any damages to the artwork during its transportation. Please email an image of the artwork to holly.lowther@rcpsych.ac.uk if you would like to request a space to display it at the event by 23 February 2018.
