New Chair of the SAS Doctor's Committe

We are pleased to announce that Monique Schelhase has been appointed Chair of the SAS Doctors Committee.

Monique graduated from medical school at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1995. Since 2007 she has worked for Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders (YCED) and has been an Associate Specialist in Eating Disorders since January 2009.

Monique is an accredited practitioner in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and the lead clinician for the YCED Community Treatment Service. Her research interests include body image therapies and the psychological impacts of enteral feeding regimes.

Additionally Monique is the LYPFT SAS Tutor and member of the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional SAS Tutor Committee, the SAS representative on the LYPFT LNC and Medical Education Committee and a Medical Appraiser.

Monique’s priorities as the new Chair are to ensure that the College continues to meet the educational needs of its SAS members, to promote career development and to encourage greater affiliate membership. Her vision for the committee includes improved links with the regional SAS Tutors through social media and mobile technology in addition to being recognised as a primary source of career support.
