Dr Elaine Lockhart
Chair, Child and Adolescent Faculty
Dr Elaine Lockhart is a consultant with the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Learning Disability CAMHS team and Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Child and Adolescent Faculty. She was a consultant in Paediatric Liaison psychiatry at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for 21 years and the team was the RCPsych Child and Adolescent Mental Health team of the year in 2017.
She was joint chair of the RCPsych Paediatric Liaison network, vice-chair and then chair of the RCPsych in Scotland Child and Adolescent faculty. This led to her working as a clinical advisor to the Scottish Government from 2019–2021.
Her areas of focus are improved funding to support values and evidence-based specialist CAMHS across the UK and the recruitment and retention of psychiatrists to work with infants, children and young people. This works aims to be underpinned by embracing diversity, equality and inclusion within our profession and services, sustainability and co-production with young people and parents and carers.
