Dr Chiara Cattra

Vice Chair, Psychiatric Trainees Committee

Dr. Chiara Cattra is the current Vice-Chair of the Psychiatric Trainees’ Committee, and a Speciality Registrar in General Adult Psychiatry on the south coast. In 2021-2022, she was awarded the prestigious National Medical Director's Clinical Fellowship, and was appointed to the General Medical Council, in recognition of her potential for senior leadership and service innovation. Alongside her LTFT clinical practice, she is presently working towards an LLM in Healthcare Ethics and Law at the University of Manchester.

She studied Medicine at King's College London as a mature student, graduating in 2017. She completed her Foundation training in North Wales, achieving postgraduate qualifications in Medical Education, and in Leadership and Management, before being awarded an Academic Clinical Fellow post. She completed Core Psychiatry Training in the Wessex Deanery in 2022.

With an unconventional route into healthcare, and as a psychiatrist with lived experience as both patient and carer, she seeks to foster diversity and compassion in our healthcare systems. Outside of work, she spends her time crafting ceramics on a potter’s wheel, working through an endless reading pile, scouting for caffeine, and spending time with her wife and family.
