Prof. Geoffrey M. Reed, PhD is Professor of Medical Psychology, Columbia University Medical Center and a Consultant to the Department of Mental Health and Substance Use, World Health Organization. He is a researcher at the National Institute of Psychiatry Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz and a Level 3 Member of the National System of Researchers, National Council of Science and Technology, Mexico. Beginning in 2008, he served as WHO Senior Project Officer for ICD-11 Mental, Behavioural and Neurodevelopmental Disorders. He was a founder of the Center for Global Mental Health Research at the National Institute of Psychiatry and of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Capacity Building in Global Mental Health, Columbia University. He also founded and directs the WHO Global Clinical Practice Network (http://gcp.network), which now comprises over 17,000 mental health and primary care professionals from more than 160 countries, which contributed directly to the ICD-11 through participation in field studies. He has received numerous awards, including the Robert L. Spitzer, MD Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nosology and Diagnosis and the 2021 American Psychological Association Award for Outstanding Lifetime Contributions to Psychology.
