Dr John Mitchell CBE

Dr John Mitchell is a retired consultant liaison psychiatrist and medical manager. He is currently employed part time by Scottish Government to lead the implementation of ICD 11 mental, behavioural and neurodevelopmental disorders. He is a member of the WHO international advisory group for ICD 11 implementation. He served as Principal Medical Officer and psychiatric adviser to Scottish government from 2014 to 2020 and returned from retirement to assist with the Scottish government response to Covid 19. He was awarded the RCPsych President’s Medal in 2021 and a CBE in the 2022 new year’s honours for services to improving mental health in Scotland.
