Mike graduated from King’s College School of Medicine & Dentistry after a First Class intercalated degree from the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine at University College. 

He completed his basic and specialist training in Psychiatry at The Maudsley, Institute of Psychiatry and National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery as well as at the University of Birmingham, before becoming a consultant at the Soho Community Mental Health Team, Inpatient Lead for Westminster and an honorary consultant at The National, working with people with functional neurological disorders (FND).

Mike went on to be Lead Clinician at the Neuropsychiatry Service at The Maudsley in 2010 and worked on the Lishman and Blackheath Brain Injury Units, where he had discovered his interest in brain injury as a SHO.

The opportunity to develop an integrated, rapid access acute brain injury service and FND inpatient programme at The Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Services at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, led to a move there in 2015.

Mike is the Clinical Director of the South London Neurosciences Operational Delivery Network between St George’s and King’s, the first of its kind in the UK;  a member of the NHS England Clinical Reference Group in Neurosciences; the National Neurosciences Advisory Group; British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine and, is a trustee of the UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF), a charity for people with brain injury.
