Dr Mani Santhana Krishnan

Chair, Old Age Psychiatry

Dr Krishnan currently works as a consultant in Old Age Psychiatry and Senior Clinical director for the mental health services for older people at Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.
 
As a Regional Delirium lead and Associate Dean he has been actively working with Health Education England North East in raising the profile of delirium in the North East and the UK. Some of the initiatives he developed, including the #IcanpreventDelirium as well as the two educational videos, have been widely recognised across the world. The video has surpassed 50K views online and has been widely referenced as an educational resource, including in the NICE guide for care homes.

He has been a Faculty executive member for over 10 years in various roles including Regional specialty Representative and as Academic secretary for the past 4 years.

He has keen interest in education and supporting colleagues in Leadership roles. He continues his full time clinical role leading a CMHT and Liaison psychiatry. Dr Krishnan and his team have won several national and regional awards. He was awarded psychiatric communicator of the year at the RCPsych awards in 2017. He was also awarded inspirational leader of the year by northeast Leadership Academy.

Dr Krishnan has been invited to give talks and runs workshops both in UK and abroad. He has presented his work on Delirium awareness at European Delirium Association in Portugal. He was also invited to run a workshop at American Delirium Society in San Francisco in 2018.
