Dr Ovais Wadoo

International Division Chair, Middle Eastern Division

Dr. Ovais Wadoo, FRCPsych, FRCP (Edin), is the chair of the Middle East Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He plays a key role in delivering its international strategy and overseeing its activities in the Middle East and North Africa. 

Dr. Wadoo is a senior consultant psychiatrist based in Qatar. He is the director of neuromodulation services. He has played a key role in leading the transition to community-based care and training of primary care physicians. He is a clinical associate professor at the College of Medicine – Qatar University (CMED-QU). In his role as the director of the psychiatry fellowship programs, he led the establishment of psychiatry fellowship programmes in Qatar, the highest in the Middle East region. He has led and contributed to the establishment of a psychiatry clerkship program in CMED-QU in his role as the clerkship director.

He led the national award-winning program of training primary care physicians in 2018. He has been involved in producing national guidelines for mental disorders in the state of Qatar. He was awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and the fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists as a mark of distinction and recognition of contributions to medicine, psychiatry, and medical education.
