Cavendish Square group and Safety In Mental Health Network

Sarah Rae has accessed mental health services intermittently throughout adulthood. Her experience of secondary care services motivated Sarah to take on board roles, such as, Non-Executive Director of the NIHR Applied Research Collaborations (ARC) East of England and national Mind trustee.

She is currently working as the Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Consultant for the Safety in Mental Health Settings project. This pan-London initiative is focused on addressing issues of violence and aggression within acute care and PICU.

Since 2020 Sarah has been co-leading the PPI workstream on the NIHR ARC National Priorities in Mental Health programme. She also initiated and is co-leading the NIHR funded MINDS study. This complex research project aims to improve the outcomes and experiences of those being discharged from mental health hospitals
