Responding to COVID-19

All our face to face events have been cancelled until June 2021 including, sadly our International Congress 2020. We have now moved many of our planned events online, as well as launching a series of free webinars for members. Our popular Congress webinar series, which began in July, celebrates some of the planned sessions from the 2020 Congress programme.

We have introduced online versions of our MRCPsych exams and have published guidance so candidates know what to expect.

Dame Fiona Caldicott: A message from the President

Feb 15, 2021, 18:55 PM by RCPsych Digital Team
RCPsych President Dr Adrian James expressed his immense sadness today at the death of Dame Fiona Caldicott, the first woman President of the College.

"I am enormously saddened to learn of the death, earlier today, of Dame Fiona Caldicott who was both the first woman Dean and the first woman President of the College.

"She is of course best known as the Chair of the Caldicott Committee and her ground-breaking work on safeguarding patient information as the UK’s first National Data Guardian for Health and Social Care.

"The Royal College of Psychiatrists will remember her as an inspirational leader and a brilliant and pioneering psychiatrist.

"On behalf of the College, I would like to send our sympathy and condolences to her family."

Dr Adrian James, President, Royal College of Psychiatrists
