Belfast will this year host the joint conference between RCPsych NI and the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology NI in the Assembly Buildings on Friday 29 March. We have secured an excellent line-up of renowned speakers for the event which will cossider a wide range of issues associated with brian injury and trauma.
This one-day event will be of interest to a wide range of practitioners. Prominent speakers include Dr Michael Webb, Medical Director at Ulster Rugby, who will explore the issue of head injuries in sport, while Dr Stuart Currie, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, will consider acute and chronic traumatic brain injury and neuroradiological concepts of traumatic brain injury through the films featuring the boxer, Rocky Balboa.
Prominent Consultant Neuropsychiatrist Dr Alan Carson, from the Robert Fergusson Unit in Edinburgh, will outline neuropsychiatry in mild to moderate traumatic brain injury. In addition, Dr Tracey Ryan-Morgan will join us from Cardiff to present on neuropsychiatry and outcomes following mild traumatic brain injury.
There will be a number of prominent speakers also from Northern Ireland, including Dr Richard Bunn, who will speak on Brain Injury in the Forensic Service, while Dr Joy Watson will outling the findings of RCPsych's College Report on Alcohol Related Brain Damage, which she co-authored. Dr Brian Herron from the Belfast Trust will speak on the neuropathology of traumatic brain injury.
