Aims:
 
The course aims to enhance the skills required by a psychiatrist for public engagement.  These include writing for a lay readership and working with the media to develop the public’s understanding of mental illnesses and their treatment.
 
Learning objectives:
 
To understand key factors to consider when preparing for either written or verbal public engagement work. 
To practice writing for a lay readership. 
To practice interview skills for a broadcast media interview. 

College members who wish to develop their skills in and enhance their experience of public engagement. It is aimed at those who would like to embark on public engagement work as well as those with previous experience who wish to enhance their skills
