Annual ECT and Neuromodulation Conference 2020

Event Information

The annual, international ECT and Neuromodulation conference welcomes all practitioners involved in the provision of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and other neuromodulation techniques. This includes healthcare staff caring for patients who might be referred for ECT and related treatments, as well as those involved in the practical delivery of those treatments. Although the focus of the conference is upon ECT specifically, other established and novel neuromodulation procedures such as rTMS, tDCS, Ketamine, MST, VNS and DBS may variously be covered in the programme.
The conference is not intended as a comprehensive training course in ECT or other procedures. Rather, it is a valuable opportunity for those new to the topic(s) to become acquainted with modern practice and, crucially, for established practitioners to develop their knowledge based upon recent worldwide developments. The conference is held over two days, as outlined below, and features expert speakers from around the globe. For obvious reasons and in line with Royal College policy, this year’s conference will be conducted online, using Zoom, rather than held in a geographical location. It will be held over two half-days rather than two full days. Accordingly, conference rates are a small fraction of those of previous years. All speakers will be present and will engage in question and answer sessions following their respective presentations.

Please note that for the time being, only those registered in advance for the conference will be able to view content afterwards from your home or work for up to two months after the conference.  The conference will also be available to those who have signed up, to view online at a later date.
The Royal College welcomes attendees from around the world to join this year’s international conference. Both days of the conference are aimed at those involved in the practical delivery of ECT and/or related treatments, whether on a frequent or occasional basis (this includes psychiatrists, anaesthetists, nurses, ODPs and support workers), as well as psychiatrists who potentially refer patients for ECT and/or related treatments. Trainee doctors in psychiatry or anaesthesia, as well as medical and nursing students, will also find the conference stimulating and rewarding.
