Frequently asked questions

Congress 2022 will be taking place on Monday 20 June – Thursday 23 June 2022.

The 2022 International Congress will be taking place in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh will be our first face-to-face Congress in three years and a welcome chance to get out and about again. Edinburgh is steeped in history and culture and is the perfect location to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of a diverse and vibrant city. Whether this is your first time visiting or 100th, there are several fascinating stories to discover.

The venue address is: Edinburgh International Conference Center (EICC), The Exchange, 150 Morrison St, Edinburgh EH3 8EE. You can find more travel information here

In 2022 we are meeting again for a fully in-person International Congress in the fabulous city of Edinburgh. Please note there is no option to watch along virtually. However, we will be recording sessions for purchase after Congress has taken place.

We understand there is still some uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and the running of live events but we want to assure you that we are considering all eventualities and monitoring the situation carefully.

In 2023 we will move back online to deliver another innovative virtual International Congress, using the best of technology to deliver our cutting-edge programme.

Registration for Congress 2022 is now closed, please note that spaces are still available to book on arrival to the venue.

Please note that all delegates will now be charged at the late fee.

Fees for Congress vary depending on several factors. The earlier you book, the more money you will save. Please note that the early bird rates and the standard rates are no longer available.

If you are not based in the UK and not yet a member of the College, you may benefit from becoming an International Member. International members have access to a multitude of resources to continue their professional development, including reduced booking fees for our Congress.

Unfortunately we will not be live streaming any of the 2022 Congress. The only booking option available to delegates is to attend live, however as a result of your feedback we have re-introduced day rates. If you are unsure which option is right for you please see our latest blog post explaining the 2022 fee structure.

Please note that we are planning to record all sessions/masterclasses (where speaker permission is given). Those delegates who have purchased a whole conference fee will be able to watch these recordings after the Congress has taken place at no extra cost. Those delegates who were unable to join us live in Edinburgh will be able to purchase these recordings after the Congress has taken place.*

If you are interested in purchasing these recordings and not attending the Congress in-person, please sign up to our recordings mailing list and we will send you further information shortly.

*Session recordings will be made available after the Congress has taken place, meaning you will not be able to watch online in real-time (the date of their release/pricing structure will be specified nearer the time).

The early bird rate and the standard rate are no longer available. All delegates will be charged at the late rate.

Invitation letters for visa purposes are available only to registered delegates of the International Congress.

Once you have registered for the Congress please email congress@rcpsych.ac.uk with your request along with a copy of your booking confirmation. We will then be able to send you an invitation letter.
To help you plan your stay in Edinburgh we have been working with a third party organisation to compile a list of local hotels. Please note that accommodation in Edinburgh around the time of Congress is extremely limited, wherever possible we would recommend booking your accommodation as soon as possible. The list of hotels included is not exhaustive and other options may be available elsewhere (please note that Edinburgh is a very walkable city)

We are really excited to see you at this year’s international Congress in Edinburgh and we do hope that the planned strikes won't prevent you making the most of Congress. However if your travel is disrupted and you have purchased the full conference then you will be able to view recordings of the majority of sessions after the Congress has taken place.

If you have registered for the day and the strike goes ahead then we are also exploring whether we can provide recordings for the days the strike is taking place and will be in touch about this.

As per our terms and conditions we are unable to provide any delegate with a refund at this stage.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists International Congress 2022 is a face-to-face event and offers 120 hours of educational content. For the College’s CPD purposes, the normal daily limits will apply – i.e. claim a maximum of 6 hours per day for days that have been attended in-person. A total of 24 CPD points for the entire Congress.

However, please note that delegates who have registered to attend the Whole Congress will have access to recordings of the sessions and keynotes. This means that they can watch content ‘on demand’ outside of the Congress dates. If they do that, these can be claimed for CPD purposes, subject to firstly, the limit of no more than 6 hours on a day and secondly, approval of their peer group. The attendance certificate provided by the College will only mention the Congress dates. If claiming CPD for watching ‘on demand’ on other days, the evidence will have to be not only the attendance certificate, but also peer group approval

If you are presenting or chairing a session/masterclass in the main Congress programme you will be offered complimentary registration for the day you are presenting. You do not have to book for this day you will be automatically registered.

If you wish to attend any further days of the Congress you will need to book and pay for this online.

Please note poster presenters will not be offered complimentary registration.

Yes, please email a pdf copy of your voucher/s to congress@rcpsych.ac.uk and specify which fee you are expecting to pay.

We will then ask you to arrange a BACS transfer for the remaining cost. Please note that we cannot provide change for any vouchers partially used.

If you are paying on behalf of someone else the best way to make payment is by calling the office and making payment by credit/debit card. Please call the Congress team on 020 8618 4120 or 020 8618 4150 to do so. Please note that we can no longer accept BACS payments.

We cannot reserve places until payment is made. Please note, that all prices are in pound sterling. If you are making an international payment please ensure that you cover the exchange rate. You will also be required to cover any international banking charge.

If an event has to be cancelled or rescheduled we will contact you as soon as possible to notify you of the change. You will be offered an alternative or a full refund.

We cannot reimburse travel, accommodation or other costs related to the event.

If you need to cancel your booking, we will be able to refund you as follows:

  • 80% up to one month before the first day of the event

  • 50% between one month and up to two weeks before the first day of the event

We will not be able to offer any refunds where cancellation is received with less than two weeks’ notice.

All cancellations must be received in writing.

Of course! Anyone with an interest in psychiatry is welcome to attend Congress. If you are not a member of the College you will be required to pay the non-member fee once booking opens.

If you are interested in becoming a member, which will entitle you to our reduced Congress registration fees, you can find full details of our membership grades online.

We intended to record keynote presentations and some sessions/masterclasses from Congress 2022 (where speakers have given us permission). These will be made available after the Congress has finished.

Those who have purchased a whole conference ticket will be able to access these at no further cost. Please note that delegates who have purchased a day ticket/s will NOT receive these recordings.

If you are interested in purchasing these recordings and not attending the Congress in-person, please sign up to our recordings mailing list and we will send you further information shortly.
