International Congress 2025 Bursary Information

There are a limited number of bursaries available for medical students, foundation doctors and trainees based in one of our English Divisions or our International Divisions.

These are allocated to the presenting authors of the highest scoring poster abstracts. You can apply for these as part of the abstract submission process as long as the presenting author has met the criteria below.

Division bursaries

There are a number of bursaries available from the various divisions across the UK. You must be based within the division to be eligible.

Applicants needs to be members of the College and be a member of the corresponding Division to be eligible. Bursaries will be allocated to top scoring poster(s) in the grades listed below.

Eastern Division

Bursaries of up to £300 available for each category below.

  • 1 x Medical Student/FY1 Doctor
  • 1 x FY2 Doctor/Trainee

London Division

Bursaries of up to £300 available to cover registration, accommodation and travel.

Previous winners of this bursary are not eligible to apply.

  • 2 x Medical Students/FY
  • 2 x Core Trainees
  • 1 x Higher Trainee

North West Division

Bursaries of up to £300 available to cover registration, accommodation and travel.

  • 1 x Medical Student
  • 1 x FY Doctor

Northern and Yorkshire Division

Bursaries of up to £300 available for each category below.

  • 1 x Medical Student/FY1 Doctor
  • 1 x FY2 Doctor/Trainee
  • 1 x Trainee/SAS

South East Division

Bursaries of up to £200 available to cover registration, accommodation and travel.

Previous winners of this bursary are not eligible to apply.

  • 2 x Medical Students/FY
  • 2 x Core Trainees
  • 1 x Higher Trainee

South West Division

Bursaries of up to £500 to cover registration fee, subsistence, accommodation and travel expenses.

  • 4 x Medical Students and doctors in training (including all foundation doctors and trainees.)

Trent Division

Bursaries of up to £300 available to cover registration, accommodation and travel.

  • 1 x Medical Student
  • 1 x FY Doctor

West Midlands Division

Bursaries of up to £300 available to cover registration, accommodation and travel.

  • 1 x Medical Student
  • 1 x FY Doctor

International bursaries

Top scoring trainee or early career psychiatrist posters will be awarded a bursary.

Applicants need to be an international PMPT, MRCPsych or International Associate member of the corresponding International Division to be eligible.

Each Division will offer free registration to the Congress, £500 towards accommodation/travel and an invitation to the International Strategy Breakfast.

  • African Division – 1 bursary
  • European Division – 1 bursary
  • Middle Eastern Division – 1 bursary
  • Pan American Division – 1 bursary
  • South Asian Division – 1 bursary
  • Western Pacific Division – 1 bursary

Awards and prizes

We also have the following prizes available for abstracts presented at Congress:

  • Best rapid fire poster presentation
  • Best Psychopharmacology poster presentation
  • RCPsych Student/Foundation doctor of the year – Student poster prize
  • RCPsych Trainee of the year – Junior/Trainee of the poster prize

Please be aware that the following two prizes are only available for those based in the UK:

  • RCPsych Student/Foundation doctor of the year – Student poster prize
  • RCPsych Trainee of the year – Junior/Trainee of the poster prize
