The Competence Framework for Social Prescribing Practitioners in Wales

Competences are the building blocks of good practice. This Competence Framework seeks to create a ‘common currency’ of core knowledge, skills and behaviours to inform all those participating in social prescribing in Wales.

The core philosophy behind this framework is one of person-centred care for the provision of wellbeing services that matter. The competence framework aims to develop a common understanding of social prescribing practice that will:

  • guide social prescribing practitioners to the skills and knowledge that will best support them in their role and help shape the way they work
  • provide structure for planning, service design, commissioning and education development
  • give consistency between sectors and support the integration of services.
