Presenters

Cerys Knighton is a medical humanities PhD student funded by the SWW-DTP, researching representations of manic-depressive illness in the nineteenth century. Cerys creates artwork based on both this research and her own lived experience of bipolar disorder. Her work aims to create a space of reflection: looking at how diagnostic classifications and representations have evolved to reflect on modern stigma.

Dr Rhys Bevan Jones is a psychiatrist and researcher at the Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences, at Cardiff University. He is interested in research and clinical work from child to adult life, and mental health difficulties in this key transitional period, and he is dual-trained in child/adolescent and adult psychiatry. He's also interested in the role of visual and digital media in mental health and has studied illustration and graphic design at Central St Martins and Kingston University (London). He has been awarded a Post Doctoral Fellowship by the National Institute for Health Research and Health and Care Research Wales to refine and conduct a trial of a digital programme for adolescent depression.
