Senedd Cymru scrutiny of the Bill 

The Bill was introduced on 23 October 2017, and agreed by the Assembly on 19 June 2018. The College gave oral evidence to the Health, Social Care and Sport committee on 23 November, 2017. 

Detail of legislation


The Health, Social Care & Committee looked at the use of antipsychotic medication in care home settings, and the ways in which its inappropriate use could be reduced. Published Report

The Health, Sport & Social Care Committee looked to assess the extent and impact of loneliness and isolation experienced by people in Wales, particularly older people, and how it can be addressed. Published Report.

Alzheimers Society Cymru and the Welsh Language Commissioner have produced a report on Dementia care for Welsh language speakers in Wales. Published Report.

Welsh Government has set a vision for Wales to be a dementia-friendly nation that recognises the rights of people with dementia to feel valued and to live as independently as possible in their communities.

The action plan aims to progress commitments relating to dementia in Taking Wales Forward and Prosperity for All setting out the range of stakeholders who can support this agenda and the actions required for change.
