Croeso

I'm delighted to introduce the new quarterly Newsletter from RCPsych Wales, It's a great way to introduce work that's been undertaken by members and I'm sure its a platform that'll grow in future editions. I'm really grateful to Akhtar Khan and Daniel Jones for their work in the compilation, and of course the work of members, whose efforts and successes are exemplified throughout.

Thanks, and highlights

Having been recently appointed, and honoured, to take up the position of Manager of RCPsych Wales; I'm gratified for the welcome I've received.

The passion for the profession is loud and clear, and the incoming ideas have been thick and fast.

We've held a number of diverse events, that have seen significant attendance and engagement from med students through to consultants. Inspiring mental health debates led by primary school children to the ears of the Children's Commissioner for Wales; through to sixth formers-turned advocates, having a direct audience in interviewing the Dean and Postgraduate Dean of the College and HEIW respectively at the successful Student Psychiatry Conference.

Developing, and growing

We're developing our capacity around our growing programme, all in light of RCPsych Wales becoming a devolved council of the College. We'll soon be announcing a new communications officer, who will work across the devolved nations as well as an administrator in a few months time.

RCPsych Wales consultation

In the next few weeks, we'll be launching a significant consultation that'll inform our strategy and forward work plan. It's a strategy that'll inform the Election Manifesto's of Political Parties in Wales, as they begin to undertake the design of their own priorities for the Welsh Assembly Elections in 2020. It's a consultation that'll seek individual and direct views of members, faculties, stakeholders and Welsh Government and political parties in Wales.

It's a fantastic opportunity to 'shape' the work and priorities for RCPsych Wales. We want your views, please look out for that information.

Lastly, Thanks for taking the time to read the RCPsych Wales newsletter, I believe it's a great 'snapshot' of the last few months. I hope you enjoy.
