Every year, RCPsych Wales gives ST4-ST6 Trainees the opportunity to develop their understanding of how health policy is developed and delivered in Wales and supported through a placement.
The post involves the Policy Attachment in the programmed work of the Policy unit in Wales, and also involves the post-holder in aspects of public affairs activity within the SENEDD. The attachment scheme is fully supported by the Specialty Advisor (Head of School) and the Specialty Training Committee.
The Policy Attachment is supported by the RCPsych Wales Policy Officer, and works with them on identified project work. Other opportunities include participating in meetings with our devolved council officers and officials within Welsh Government, advocating for improvement in mental health policy, and developing relationships with identified Senedd cross-party groups.
