Online New Members’ Ceremonies
Nearly 200 new RCPsych members from as far afield as Nigeria, India and the USA joined us during October, as we held three more online New Members’ Ceremonies.
Our in-person New Members' Ceremonies are always a special moment, when psychiatrists who have passed their MRCPsych join us at the RCPsych offices in central London, often accompanied by their families, to be formally welcomed to the College as members.
We last held an in-person New Members’ ceremony in October 2019, with the pandemic forcing us to cancel ceremonies both last year and this year.
So, we were delighted to be able to again hold online ceremonies to welcome Members, and all virtual attendees will also be invited to face-to-face events when we recommence the physical sessions.
The 198 who were honoured during the October virtual ceremonies registered as Members of the College between August 2020 and the end of July 2021.
At the events, members were welcomed with speeches from Chief Executive Paul Rees, Dean Professor Subodh Dave, President Dr Adrian James, Registrar Dr Trudi Seneviratne, Treasurer Professor John Crichton and Chair of the Psychiatric Trainees Committee Dr Rosemary Gordon.
The ceremonies were watched live by a total of 327 attendees from across the world. Attendees joined from 25 countries outside the UK.
