Regional vacancies
We’re looking for members to become Regional Specialty Representatives and Regional Advisors to support the recruitment of psychiatry posts across the UK.
The College needs 215 Regional Specialty Representatives (RSRs) and 54 Regional Advisors (RAs) and Deputy Regional Advisors (DRAs) in order to check that consultant and non-consultant jobs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are safe, achievable, attractive, resulting in the best outcomes for patients.
Additionally, in Scotland our Regional Advisors are central to delivering our Choose Psychiatry in Scotland Campaign.
Registrar Dr Trudi Seneviratne said:
“These key College members play a vital role in meeting our strategic objective to supporting and promote recruitment and retention in psychiatry. These RSRs, RAs and DRAs have a significant role in maintaining important connections between the College and the workforce across the UK, via their links with Divisions and Devolved Councils.
“The College owes these Regional Specialty Representatives, Regional Advisors and Deputy Regional Advisors a huge thank you for the work they do for the benefit of the psychiatric workforce – so please accept our sincere thanks!
“We currently have vacancies for many Regional Specialty Representatives and Deputy Regional Advisors across a number of Divisions, plus in Wales.”
All psychiatrists who have been at the consultant or specialist associate grade for three years or more may apply, including those retired from clinical practice (a current licence to practise from the GMC is required).
As well as joining the corresponding Division executive committee or Devolved Council, postholders will receive an induction plus be invited to training events and networking events with peers.
The recommended term is five years though this can vary depending on circumstances. The roles can also be taken up as a shared role with another colleague, or alongside any other existing College role.
If you, or a colleague, is interested in taking up these vacancies please view the full role description and contact details on our vacancies page:
