Ukraine: new resources

The College has made a range of new resources relating to the Ukraine crisis available to members, including:

  • a new patient resource translated into Russian, to go with the updated Ukrainian resources
  • a new eLearning podcast in which Dr Raj Persuad interviews a Ukraine-based psychiatrist who’s co-ordinating a support centre in Lviv
  • a webinar focused on the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) mhGAP mental health toolkit for emergency settings
  • a blog post by one of our Honorary Fellows who is in close contact with friends and colleagues in Ukraine.

Translations of patient resources

We have now published a Russian translation of our patient information on coping after a traumatic event: Как справляться с последствиями пережитых психотравмирующих событий.

This is in addition to our recently added Ukrainian translations:

eLearning podcast

In the latest podcast to be added to our eLearning hub, Dr Raj Persaud spoke with Dr Orest Suvalo, a psychiatrist based in Ukraine who is coordinating a support centre that has been set up at Lviv central train station.

In the podcast they discuss the impact of the war on the mental health of the people he meets at the station, on those with mental health and psychiatric diagnoses, as well the impact on Dr Suvalo himself as he continues to live and work in Ukraine.

Webinar

Dr Peter Hughes FRCPsych and Vitalii Klymchuk, Community Mental Health Services Coordinator at MH4U, present an overview of the WHO’s mhGAP Humanitarian Intervention Guide, which is a mental health toolkit designed for emergency settings.
