Our next Psych Stars

Applications for the Psych Star Scheme 2022/2023 cohort are now open. The deadline for applications is 4 July 2022.

This one-year scheme is open to UK medical students committed to pursuing a career in psychiatry, who are interested in receiving mentoring and financial support.

Benefits of the scheme include access to various learning resources and journals, as well as free registration to attend International Congress, the College’s flagship event.

As Psych Stars you will also be expected to act as an ambassador for the College and psychiatry as a profession.

Faculty Psych Star

You may be interested in applying to be a Faculty Psych Star.

The following faculties have one Psych Star position available:

  • Addictions
  • Child and adolescent
  • Eating disorders
  • Forensic
  • General adult
  • Intellectual disability
  • Liaison
  • Medical psychotherapy
  • Old age
  • Perinatal

We recently held a Psych Star Scheme Information Evening which you can watch on demand.

Eligibility

You must be a current student at a UK medical school for the duration of the award (1 September 2022 – 1 September 2023), a current Student Associate of the College and demonstrate an interest in and commitment to psychiatry.

If you are not yet registered as a Student Associate, signing up is easy, free of charge and offers a range of benefits. Find out more.

Students who are intercalating are eligible to apply.

Past unsuccessful applicants to the psych star scheme can reapply.

Current final year students and current and previous Psych Star Scheme, Pathfinder and Foundation Fellowship holders are not eligible to apply.
