Presidential election

Last Thursday, 20 October, we held our Presidential hustings event – at which the three candidates Dr Kate Lovett, Professor Russell Razzaque and Dr Lade Smith all endeavoured to show why they are the best candidate to take over the role of President when Dr Adrian James demits office in July.

The event began with speeches from each candidate, then members were given the chance to ask questions to the candidates.

The event was live streamed - and for those who couldn’t watch live, the recording is available to watch.

Throughout November, we’ll be running an online Q&A with written answers to questions from each candidate published every week for four weeks. If you’ve haven’t already then submit a question for the candidates.

The three candidates have all issued election statements and recorded election videos, which can be viewed on our website.

The Autumn 2022 edition of RCPsych Insight carries a two-page special feature on the election.

Voting for the election opens on 14 December and closes at midday on 18 January, with the winner being announced on 19 January.

The winning candidate will take up office when Dr James demits office in the summer of 2023.
