College offers support to Turkey

The College’s President, Dr Adrian James, has spoken about the devastating situation in Turkey, as the College reaches out to our mental health counterparts in areas affected by the disaster. Adrian said:

“We have all been saddened to see the news about the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and out thoughts are with all our members whose families and friends are impacted by this disaster.

“I have written to my counterpart in Turkey, and our international team are in contact with Turkish colleagues to see what support we can offer.”

The College’s Psychiatrists' Support Service is available to all members who find themselves needing support during this difficult time.

The RCPsych has built up a body of knowledge from the response it has provided to other international emergencies and these resources are freely available on our website.

These include an eLearning module on the mental health and psychosocial response to complex humanitarian disaster, and a recording of an RCPsych webinar on the principles of Psychological First Aid which were delivered in response to other international disasters.
