WASP conference caused a buzz

We hosted the Joint World Congress of the RCPsych Rehabilitation and Social Psychiatry Faculty and the World Association of Social Psychiatry (WASP) at our London offices last week.

More than 300 delegates from over 30 countries joined online and in person, as the WASP World Congress returned to London for the first time since 2014.

The theme for the event was ‘Recovery from mental illness: Challenges and solutions from across the globe’.

The programme was expertly organised by Dr Andrew Molodynski and Dr Raj Mohan. Speakers included Professor Sir Michael Marmot, WPA President Dr Afzal Javed, RANZCP President Dr Vinay Lakra, former RCPsych President Professor Dinesh Bhugra, WASP President Professor Rachid Bennegadi, incoming WASP President Professor Vincenzo Di Nicola and RCPsych President Dr Adrian James.

This was the most complex hybrid event ever undertaken by the College with four sessions live-streamed concurrently and sessions taking place entirely online and in-person.

This was a true collaborative effort with colleagues from our Events, Audio Visual, Facilities and Project Management Teams putting many hours of planning and testing in place before the event to make it at success.

From a technical perspective, the event ran very smoothly with positive feedback from attendees in-person and online.
