Celebrating South Asian History Month 2024

Last month the College celebrated South Asian History Month, and marked the amazing contribution our South Asian members, affiliates and wide range of stakeholders make to the life and work of the College.

Blog post celebrating South Asian identities

Dr Amrit Sachar and Dr Raj Mohan, the College's Joint Presidential Leads for Equity and Equality joined forces to co-write a great blog post highlighting the importance of this year’s South Asian Heritage Month theme ‘free to be me’.

In the blog post they talk about the importance of organisations tackling racism in the workplace, and how that can have a transformative effect on the working lives of thousands of South Asian psychiatrists and other mental health workers.

We also recorded a podcast interview with Dr Manoj Kumar, the RCPsych South Asian chair, to discuss the mental health landscape in India.

‘Free to be me’ webinar

Chaired by Dr Shahid Latif, this year’s South Asian History Month webinar featured a discussion of the journeys and learnings of doctors from different countries in South East Asia and their thoughts on this year’s theme: 'Free to be me'. The webinar was followed by a Q&A discussion.
