Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming a central part of our Senior Management Team, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to take on the post of Director of Strategic Communications. The successful candidate will lead a wider portfolio of responsibilities including accountability for the development and delivery of a strategic plan to secure the College’s mission, objectives, and priorities through all means of communications; this includes lobbying and stakeholder influencing, developing, and delivering policy and campaigns and communicating through the media and all digital channels.

The successful candidate must bring with them experience of leadership gained within a comparably complex and influential organisation, with recognised expertise in delivering first class strategies of communication and engagement. You must demonstrate the ability to provide strong and inspirational leadership to a talented team, with the ability to instil a culture of high performance and exceptional service throughout. Essential to success is an ability to work effectively with a range of partners both internally and externally and an alignment with our values.

The successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure Barring Service check.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is the professional membership body for psychiatrists and promotes excellent care for people with mental illness. It has 19,000 members and engages with the government and the media as the leading voice of the UK’s mental health services.
