The College is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief for BJPsych Advances. The present Editor-in-Chief, Professor Patricia Casey, will be standing down at the end of November 2023. Applications are invited from College Members who feel they have the drive and vision to continue her work and ensure the continued growth of this essential CPD journal.
BJPsych Advances distils current clinical knowledge into a single resource, written and peer-reviewed by expert clinicians to meet the CPD needs of consultant psychiatrists. Each issue includes commissioned articles dealing with physical and biological aspects of treatment, psychological and sociological interventions, management issues and treatments specific to the different psychiatric subspecialties. Articles discuss comprehensive, practical approaches to clinical problems and explain the full range of therapeutic options, with useful features like MCQs, summary boxes, and associated commentaries. BJPsych Advances is essential reading for practising mental health professionals who need to be kept informed of current ideas, techniques and developments in psychiatry.
The Editor-in-Chief of BJPsych Advances will be responsible to the College for the content of BJPsych Advances. They will be responsible for determining the future direction of the journal. Specifically, this will involve overall responsibility for the peer review process, planning and selection of content, commissioning articles, overseeing the work of the Editorial Board and taking responsibility for the relevance, appropriateness and validity of the content. They will ensure processes are fair and reasonable.
