Patient or Carer Representative x4 in total - Co-Production Training

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking 2 patient and 2 carer representatives to join a working group to develop and then deliver Co-Production training for College staff.  The successful applicants will have recent lived experience of mental health services or caring for someone with mental illness, they will also need to have experience of working with College teams on co-produced activities.

The Patient and Carer Representatives will be integral members of the working group. They will work with College staff to develop, deliver and evaluate Co-Production training, which fully supports the Colleges Working Together model.

Training Development 

The working group will need to meet on the following dates in November: 

  • 12 November 2021 – 10am (1hour) 
  • 19 November 2021 – 2pm (1hour)
  • 29 November 2021 – 10am (1.5 hours) 
Training Delivery 

Training will be delivered to staff on the following dates. For each session only one patient and one carer presentation will be required, therefore sessions will alternate on a rota basis amongst the appointed patients and carers.  Staff members will also take turns to co-deliver the sessions with the patient and carer representatives.

  • 6 December 2021 – (2 hours) – Pilot Session  
  • 28 January 2022 – (2 hours)
  • 21 April 2022 – (2 hours)
  • 21 July 2022 – (2 hours)
  • 21 October 2022 – (2 hours) 

Further dates in 2023 to be agreed at a later date. The programme will be reviewed after 2 years. The patient and carer representatives are expected to attend and contribute to the working group meetings and collaborate with group members to complete design the training materials. Technical support will be offered by the HR Learning and Development Team throughout.
