The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking one patient and one carer representative to join the Psychopharmacology Committee as Workers.  The successful applicants will have recent experience of taking psychopharmacological treatments or caring for someone who has and have an interest in the area.

The patient and carer representatives will be integral members of the committee working with the chair to engage the wider membership and partner organisations in advocating for the patient group.

The Psychopharmacology Committee exists to consider and develop best practice in psychopharmacological and other physical treatments. You can read more on the Psychopharmacology Committee web page.

The committee meets three times a year in London or online to discuss a range of issues.  The majority of the committee are psychiatrists from across the UK.

The representatives are expected to attend and contribute to committee meetings.  They will work with other members to complete pieces of work, such as reviewing guidelines, position statements, consultations and other documents produced by the committee.  Opportunities arise for involvement with communications and the media.

The RCPsych has developed a high media profile and is a leading organisation in terms of equality and diversity. It was a recent winner of Charity of the Year at the European Diversity Awards. This is an excellent opportunity for patients and carers to contribute their perspectives on important mental health issues and be part of our ongoing strategy and communications development.
