The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking 1 patient representative to join the Digital Special Interest Group executive committee as a Worker.  The successful applicant will have recent lived experience of mental health service.

The Patient Representative will be an integral member of the committee working with the chair and vice chair, to engage the wider membership and partner organisations in advocating for the Digital Special Interest Group (Digital SIG) patient group.

The Digital SIG primarily focuses on four areas: technology in clinical practice, research insights, educational opportunities and community building. The SIG’s work enhances evidence-based leadership within the field of mental health and technology.

The executive committee meets four times a year online to discuss a range of issues relating to technology and psychiatry. The majority of the committee are psychiatrists from across the UK.  

The Patient representative is expected to attend and contribute to the executive committee meetings and collaborate with committee members to complete pieces of work, such as input into consultation documents and college papers. Opportunities arise for involvement with the annual conference, communications and the media.

RCPsych has developed a high media profile and is a leading organisation in terms of equality and diversity. It was a recent winner of Charity of the Year at the European Diversity Awards. This is an excellent opportunity for patients and carers to contribute their perspectives on important mental health issues relating to technology and be part of our ongoing strategy and communications development.
