The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking a patient representative to join the National Audit of Dementia as a worker. The successful applicant will be a person living with a dementia condition or memory impairment, and have an interest in or recent lived experience of acute general hospital services.
The Patient Representative will attend steering group meetings and bring a patient perspective to the project.
The focus of the National Audit of Dementia is to examine and improve the quality of care received by people with dementia when admitted to a general hospital. You can read more about the project on our webpages.
The steering group usually meets twice a year in London or online to discuss a range of issues relating to the project. The group is made up of wide range of experts from across the UK and includes representatives of patient and carer organisations and people with lived experience of using services.
The Patient Representative is expected to attend and contribute to the steering group meetings and collaborate with members in deciding on what good care looks like, how to collect and interpret data about the care patients receive, and how to report the results.
RCPsych has developed a high media profile and is a leading organisation in terms of equality and diversity. It was a recent winner of Charity of the Year at the European Diversity Awards. This is an excellent opportunity for patients to contribute their perspectives on important mental health issues relating to spirituality and be part of our ongoing strategy and communications development.
