The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking to appoint a Policy Engagement Manager, to take forward our work on how we work with and support our members locally on mental health policy development and implementation.

The Policy Engagement Manager will play a vital role in developing, and providing ongoing operational and strategic management to, the College Engagement Network. This is an exciting new initiative designed to support us in communicating our priorities on national mental health policy at a local level, and to improve the way we gather insight from our members locally to help inform our policy work and influencing. It will help us to influence national mental health policy development, and to support our members to advocate at a local level. The Engagement Manager will also lead on our wider policy influencing work relating to local level NHS systems and structures.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who can take our local engagement strategy and related policy work to the next level, and who can work effectively with internal and external stakeholders in the course of this work. You will be passionate about achieving change and have experience of linking the national policy agenda with local implementation. In doing so, you will need to be able to work with and utilise the expertise and experience of College representatives and grassroot members to improve the care of people with mental illness.

Working with other members of the Policy and Campaigns team and wider College you will identify and seize opportunities to promote and develop College policy, particularly in relation to delivering the mental health commitments in the NHS Long Term Plan. You will need excellent planning and project skills, and enjoy working across a range of policy areas.

Please note our staff are working to a hybrid model of home and office-based working. The policy and campaigns team office days are Tuesday and Wednesdays.

The College values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community, reflecting the population it serves.

We are committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and supportive culture, a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. We aim to promote a more inclusive environment, which attracts all candidates and signals our commitment to celebrate and promote diversity.

We will consider putting into place appropriate reasonable adjustments for candidates who may have a disability.

We only recruit the best and in return for your commitment, the College offers an attractive salary and benefits.
