Presidential Lead for Equity and Equality

Key responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- advise the President, Officers and CEO on equity and equality issues.
- play a leading role in the Equity and Equality Action Plan group (which will replace the Equality Action Plan group)
- play a leading role in any Equity and Equality Task Force (if one is set up to build on the work of the Equality Task Force)
- feed into the new three-year RCPsych Equity and Equality Action Plan, which will be the next iteration of the RCPsych Equality Action Plan
- support the Equality Champions network
- represent the College’s position on equity and equality matters in the media and with decision-makers and opinion-formers
- work with the College’s Policy and Campaigns team to enhance the College’s policy positions on equity and equality
- advise on appropriate use of language on equity and equality to promote and uphold the College values of Courage, Innovation, Respect, Collaboration, Learning and Excellence
- work with other Presidential Leads, in particular with Presidential Lead for Women in Mental Health.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is the professional membership body for psychiatrists and promotes excellent care for people with mental illness.
It has over 20,000 members and engages with government and the media as the leading voice of the UK’s mental health services.
