Professor Julia Sinclair
Chair, Addictions Faculty
Dr Julia Sinclair is Professor of Addiction Psychiatry in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. She works clinically as a consultant in alcohol liaison.
Her aim is to improve outcomes for patients with alcohol use disorders (AUD) and co-morbid physical and mental health conditions by research, teaching, policy, and clinical practice.
As Chair of the Addictions Faculty, Dr Sinclair’s key priorities are to highlight the poor outcomes for people with alcohol and drug use disorders, work with policy makers to improve equity of care.
She aims to reverse the loss of training posts in Addiction Psychiatry and the impact that this has on the competencies of all doctors training in Psychiatry and the quality of care they are able to offer. Dr Sinclair also aims to ensure that the concerns of the Faculty of Addiction and the people we serve are integrated into the overall strategy of the College.
