Femi Oyebode
Professor of Psychiatry, University of Birmingham
Femi Oyebode graduated with distinction from University of Ibadan in 1977. He trained in psychiatry in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He has been consultant psychiatrist in Birmingham since 1986. He was appointed Honorary Professor of Psychiatry, University of Birmingham in 1999 and was Head of Department from 2003-08. He was involved in various roles in College examinations from 1989 to 2005 and was Chief Examiner from 2002-05. He is Associate Editor of the British Journal of Psychiatry. He has acted as external examiner at University College Dublin, Keele, Kuwait, Nottingham, Leeds, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Oman, & St George’s London. He has been Visiting Professor at Auckland, Ibadan and Perth. His books include Mindreadings- literature and psychiatry, Madness at the theatre, and Sims’ Symptoms in the Mind- textbook of descriptive psychopathology 4-6th editions. He is a published poet.
