Professor Helen Killaspy

Professor of Rehabilitation Psychiatry, Division of Psychiatry, University College London and Honorary Consultant in Rehabilitation Psychiatry, Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust

Helen Killaspy is Professor of Rehabilitation Psychiatry at UCL. Her research provides crucial evidence for the effectiveness of specialist services for people with complex mental health needs. She was the Topic Adviser for the first NICE (National Institute for Health and Care) Clinical Guideline on Mental Health Rehabilitation Services(CG 181, NICE, 2020). She is the Chair of the Advisory Group for the UK Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Rehabilitation Quality Network. 

From 2015 to 2020 she was the National Professional Adviser to the Care Quality Commission (Hospital Inspectorate, England and Wales) for mental health rehabilitation services.  In 2019, the European Psychiatric Association awarded her the Constance Pascal-Helen Boyle Prize for Outstanding Achievement by a Woman in Working to Improve Mental Health Care in Europe. In 2021 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Faculty of Rehabilitation and Social Psychiatry of the UK Royal College of Psychiatrists.
