Registrar speaks about NHS reform

The Government has announced plans to reform the NHS in England, bringing health and care services closer together.

The College will be looking at these proposals in closer detail over the coming weeks to ensure mental health is very much at the heart of the reformed organisation.

RCPsych Registrar Dr Trudi Seneviratne said:

“Collaboration between NHS organisations, their partners and local communities is vital to ensure people with a mental illness don’t slip through the gaps.
“We are keen to work with the Government to make sure that these proposals lead to increased collaboration to address inequalities and drive better care at a local level.
“They mark a big opportunity to ensure that every local area works towards parity of esteem between physical and mental health.”
