Safely resuming ECT services and COVID-19
Following the new guidance on infection prevention and control and low/medium/high risk COVID-19 pathways, the Royal College of Anaesthetists has published advice on anaesthesia for ECT during the COVID-19 pandemic that will support local areas in safely resuming ECT services.
This is welcome news following the decline in these services since the start of the pandemic – in most cases, those patients needing ECT will be in the low-risk patient pathway where only standard infection control procedures will be necessary.
