The Transcultural Special Interest Group have produced COVID-19 mental health help videos for patients and the public across the world.
The videos will be especially useful in countries which have very few psychiatrists.
Transcultural SIG chair Dr Shahid Latif worked with colleagues to create versions of the help video in Arabic, Bengali, Gujarati, Urdu/Hindi, Punjabi, Pashto, Marathi, Romanian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Yoruba, Hausa, Greek, Romanian, Spanish and English.
Work to promote the videos has already begun, with BBC Radio Leicester among the news outlets to pick up on them.
Dr Latif said: “There are many areas of the world where people don’t have the same access to mental health information and support as we do in England, and during the pandemic this access is likely to be even less.
“We wanted to provide these videos as a resource to help people. I am very grateful to all my colleagues for helping us record the videos, I’m sure they will be well used.”
