Saying I do – is contracting in mentoring a good idea?
28 October, 2019
Setting out clear boundaries at the start of a mentoring relationship might seem a bit awkward at the time. But if both parties know how long the commitment will be, where they will meet, what information will and won’t be shared etc this could save some miscommunication and harder conversations further down the line.
Other things you might consider could be a “chemistry session” to see if it’s going to work, deciding on the level of challenge you’d like and what areas the mentee would like to talk about.
You can always come back and review what you’ve agreed and in the meantime, let the transformation begin!
