MRCPsych written examinations this autumn

Additional dates have been added for both Papers B and A this autumn. Paper B will now run on both 7 October and 19 November and Paper A on both 1 and 15 December.

As higher than usual demand for the upcoming Paper B and A sittings is anticipated, second dates have been planned for both this autumn.  The College’s software provider has now been able to confirm the dates for this. We are thus happy to offer the opportunity to eligible trainees to sit the Paper B on either Wednesday 7 October or Thursday 19 November and Paper A on either Tuesday 1 or Tuesday 15 December.

When applications open for Paper B (Monday 3 August), applicants will be able to select from three options:

  • I can sit the Exam on either date.
  • I can only sit the Exam on Wednesday 7 October.
  • I can only sit the Exam on Thursday 19 November.

The College is currently working with its software provider to confirm the results publication dates for these two new additional sittings and will announce this here on the College website and via the usual social media channels as soon as they are confirmed.

Regarding the October Paper B date, it is appreciated that its move from Tuesday 6 October to Wednesday 7 October came as a surprise to some. The Tuesday 6 October scheduling had been announced prior to the pandemic outbreak and was based on the usual operational organisation of a written paper diet (in-person test centres with paper marksheets).

Following the pandemic outbreak and requirement to move online, the nearest date to this which the College’s software provider could permit was Wednesday 7 October. We thank those affected by this change for their understanding.

We look forward to hosting your sitting online and wish you all the best in these exams.
