Northern & Yorkshire Executive committee vacancies          


We are currently looking to appoint enthusiastic and experienced Consultants to join the Northern & Yorkshire and North West Division Executive Committees and we welcome applications for the following positions:

Executive Vacancies:

Recruitment Lead:

The Division Lead for promoting recruitment into psychiatry should be a Member of the College who has knowledge and an interest in promoting psychiatry as a career in innovative ways to improve recruitment to Core Training level 1 (CT1).  They will help to facilitate the College’s recruitment strategy in promoting activities aimed at improving recruitment to the CT1 grade in psychiatry. These activities should reflect the overall strategy outlined in the RCPsych 5 year recruitment plan. The College strategy is overseen by the Associate Registrar for Recruitment.


Deputy Mentoring Lead:

The Deputy Mentorship lead will support the Divisional Lead for Mentoring in advising on and assisting in setting up mentoring systems within the division, or supporting existing systems. They will also help support training programmes for interested doctors and provide advice to other doctors who might need assistance with queries about mentoring. The successful candidate should have a knowledge or interest in mentoring and or/coaching for Psychiatrists at all stages and levels of their career

Regional Specialty Representative Vacancies:

  • General & Adult: North East Region (shared)
  • Eating Disorders: Yorkshire Region
  • Child & Adolescent: Yorkshire Region (shared)
  • Forensic: Division Wide (shared)
  • Intellectual Disability: North East

Regional Specialty Representatives are appointed locally to support Regional Advisors and Deputy Regional Advisors in their roles by providing expert advice on their Psychiatric sub specialty. They are the main link between the Faculty and Division Executive and although attendance at Division Executive Committee meetings in not a mandatory requirement for this role, attendance at the Regional Advisor meetings is considered a necessary part of the role (meetings take place yearly) and regular contact with the Regional Advisor, Deputy Regional Advisor and the Division Office is essential.  The recommended tenure is 5 years although this can be decreased or increased depending on individual circumstances. The roles can also be taken up as a shared role with another colleague, or alongside any other existing College role.

Assessors on Advisory Appointment Committees

If you have been a consultant for more than three years, would you be interested in representing the College as an Assessor on Advisory Appointments Committees (AACs)?  Assessors are crucial for ensuring that good practice is maintained at all AACs, and we currently have a number of vacancies.  We therefore urgently need representatives in all psychiatric specialties and in all regions (excluding Scotland).
