  • Healthcare Leadership Model
    The Healthcare Leadership Model has been developed to help staff who work in health and care to become better leaders.
  • Clinical Leadership Competency Framework (CLCF)
    CLCF provides a standardised and consistent approach to leadership development, relates to clinicians' practitioner roles and applies to all clinicians at every stage of their professional journey.

Organisations, Networks and Charities


  • Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM)
    FMLM is a UK-wide organisation that aims to promote the advancement of medical leadership, management and quality improvement.
  • NHS Leadership Academy
    The academy's mission is to develop outstanding leadership in health, in order to improve people’s health and their experiences of the NHS.
  • NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement 
    The NHS Institute transforms good ideas into workable solutions for an improving NHS.
  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)
    IHI is an independent organisation which promotes results in healthcare and healthcare improvement worldwide. Their website offers a variety of resources including access to the IHI Open School. The Open School offers students, residents, and faculty free online courses which teach the foundations of improvement, safety, system design, and leadership.
  • The Network 
    This is an online community of medical students, junior doctors and newly qualified GPs and Consultants with an interest in clinical leadership and medical management.

  • BMJ Quality: Making Quality Improvement Simple
    This is an online platform which provides learning modules, tools and resources to support individuals in undertaking quality improvement projects. Once you have completed your project using this tool, you will have the opportunity to directly submit your work to the BMJ Quality Improvement Reports journal for publication.
  • Doctors Advancing Patient Safety (DAPS)
    DAPS aims to engage and empowering junior doctors to take a proactive approach to dealing with patient safety and to carry out quality improvement projects. They run lectures, workshops and a summer school.
  • Harvard Business Review 
    HBR offers a magazine, webinars, courses and videos which cover a wide range of topics that are relevant to different industries, management functions, and geographic locations. They focus on such areas as leadership, organisational change, negotiation, strategy, operations, marketing, finance, and managing people.
